External wall insulation and external render finishes from DJP finishes provide an affordable solution to improve your buildings energy profile

Family Run Business

We are a family run business, based in the south west of England which are experienced and approved applicators of external wall insulation and insulated render systems. We also hold, level 2 nvq certificate in insulation and building treatments, external wall insulation. We aim for customer satisfaction using a number of manufacturers with different systems offering a wide range of colours and applications to suit your requirements at a competitive price.

The service that we provide will reduce your carbon foot print helping you save money and the environment. To see average costs and saving on a typical house you can visit the energy saving trust web site. The government have schemes set up for grants which is well worth looking at to see if you are eligible, as this will help bring down the cost of the insulation works. The government also have another plan in place which is to come out this autumn called the green deal which is designed to help the whole of the country with upgrading their homes, improving thermal value and energy loss. There will be no initial cost and will be paid back through instalments on energy bills over a number of years and there is no obligation to continue paying the instalments if you move house.

Benefits of external wall insulation.

A typical house will loose a third of it’s heat through it’s walls, by using an insulated render system the heinsulation, renderat loss will be significantly reduced, saving you money on your energy bills, also increasing the properties market value. Another big advantage with the systems that we use is that they totally transform your property into a crisp, fresh new facade. The property will have a brand new crisp decorative finish, which is fully waterproof, low maintenance and easy to clean.External insulation dramatically increases the properties thermal efficiency, stabilizes the properties structure preventing movement due to thermal shock, where the property has a dramatic change of temperature.

External wall insulation also helps to prevent:

  • Noise reduction by helping to keep out unwanted outside sound due to the density of the insulation.

  •  Cold bridging which is created when materials that are poor thermal insulators come into contact, allowing heat to flow through the path of the least thermally resistant material, although nearby layers of material separated by airspace allow little heat transfer (taken from wikipedia).

  • Mould growth by reducing the penetrating damp through walls and by keeping the property at a stable temperature.

  • Condensation by changing the due point from the inside wall of the property to the to the outer edge of the insulation where the render is providing a weather proof barrier. The dew point temperature is the temperature at which the air must become cooled to in order to become completely saturated with water vapour. If the air is cooled to the dew point temperature, it will become saturated and condensation will begin to form.

U-value

What is a U value?

A U value is a measurement (w/m2, watts per meter squared) of heat loss through a material or a number of materials (i.e. how well a building holds its heat). The lower the U value the less heat that is lost through the material (I.e. brick work) or materials (I.e. brick work and polystyrene).

The systems that we use are installed with out any upset to the inside of the property. It’s quiet except for the drilling to fix the insulation. All gutter down pipes, satellite dishes, porchs, hanging baskets, etc. Are able to be fitted after the render has fully dried with ease.

Feel free to look at are gallery page where keep a record of the projects that we have completed. You can see how the systems that we install totally transform the properties from the old substrate to a brand new crisp decorative finish, which is fully waterproof, low maintenance and easy to clean

The insulation is adhesively fixed to the substrate. A hole is then drilled into the substrate through the insulation and is then fixed with a insulation fixing which is hammered into the wall. The windows and corners of the property are then beaded with a unique fiberglass mesh bead, then the render is applied to the insulation and the fiberglass mesh is bedded into the render and cut off to the edge of the window and corner beads, ensuring that all fiberglass mesh over laps it’s self. A primer is applied when the render is fully cured to the same desired colour as the finish coat. Once the primer is dry the finish coat is then applied using a hawk and trowel and using a unique float is flattened off and creates the desired texture.
